More than 50 percent of the nation lives within a 500 mile radius of Columbus, Ohio… maybe that is why there are so many students at The Ohio State University.
The total undergraduate enrollment at OSU is 38,479. That is by far the most students of any college I have researched this quarter.
Tuition for OSU costs $8,679, room and board costs $8,073 and book costs are estimated at $1,383. This brings the grand total to $18,135.
To help finance your education, OSU has many on campus jobs available to students, including: intramural sports referee, library assistant, aerobic monitors, veterinary assistant, medical assistant and other clerical and administrative positions. Working on campus can be beneficial because it cuts down on commute times and it is easier to schedule work hours around your class schedule. Students can also find classified ads in the daily student newspaper “The Lantern”.
OSU’s journalism department is regarded as one of the best in Ohio. Pulitzer Prize winning journalists that have graduated from OSU include: Diana K. Sugg (Beat Writing), Stephen Ohlemacher (Breaking News), Judith Miller (Explanatory Reporting), Julia Keller (Feature Writing), Nick Anderson (Editorial Cartoonist) and Walter Bogdanich (Investigative Journalism).
OSU has 60 fraternities and sororities. This contributes to OSU’s reputation as being a “party school”. I have taken classes with four students who said that they were at Sinclair because they partied their way out of OSU.
When it comes to sports, not to many universities can compete with OSU. The football team is a perennial powerhouse (unless they’re playing against the SEC), the basketball team is routinely ranked in the top 25 and loads of intramural sports are available to any student who wants to participate.
For students participating in transferring credits, most will be relieved to find out that most credits “transfer” to OSU, but disappointed to learn that they may not apply to your major. This means that OSU gives credit for those classes, but you may have to take more classes than you expected to graduate.
At OSU there are numerous undergraduate, transfer and graduate scholarships available to students. Use this URL to find out more information on scholarships: https://osu.scholarships.ngwebsolutions.com/ScholarX_ScholarshipSearchResult.aspx

Wow. That's alot of information. I would have never thought OSU had 800 student organizations and 60 fraternities and sororities. Yeah, I've definitely heard party stories about OSU as well. Aside from the partying, its always seemed like a good school, I just never wanted to go there. But I am a diehard Buckeyes fan.
ReplyDeleteYou were able to cram a lot of information in a logical and orderly manner. I was unaware that their journalism program was that top-notch.
ReplyDeleteGreat information and excellent use of statistics! I also like the link to more information at the end of the post.
